Blogging in English, should I?
posted on 20 May 2007 23:54 by oatato in ThoughtsI've ever asked myself if I preferred to write my blog in English.
As this ideahad come up into my mind, another questionsuddenly attacked
my head and kept asking me what the purpose of doing this was.
Only one reason I had at this moment is in case ofinvitation some friends or whoever
in this planet, who usually have English as their native language, to view my blog.
They will be able toaccess my contents easily andshare back their wide-opened ideas
or thoughts.which may be different from our points of views, but interesting.
Its actually good for me or anyone who had expected to practice, improve, or even
recovertheir own Englishskills that mightor intended to be lost somewhere since
they stopped using itafter school or after being back fromforeign countries
they had spent their lifes for a period of time in the past.
As well as my English that seems tobe worst day by day,
like an nearly-expired bottle of milk which will be thrown away someday.
Bad poetic comparison, huh? That's the perfect proof of the bad English of mine.
I'vealso hearda fact aboutwho stop using English, then he/she will evitably forget itsoon.
Ipresumethis fact mayprobably apply to our own native Thai language when someThais
who had been moving out somewhere far away from being Thai for a while, they may even
forget their own Thai language by stop using it or using itawkwardly withthe mixture of theirfavorite English accents.
Maybe I amwrong about this idea.Thismight not be true.
It might be because of their pretending not to be Thai
or trying to make themselves far more special than other Thais.
Is that shame? Who canreally tellit is?
If thisbehaviorhas neverever induced anyone to admire them once,
they would not be inspired to do it again, and this finallybecomea new
never-before-seentraditions reserved for Thai people, as I've seen
The problem is "anyone"is ourown Thaiwho deeply admires this tradition
andusuallysays "That's coolyou canapplyEnglish skills better thanusing Thai"
Yeah, I think it'sshame, not for one who has that manner,
butfor anyone who admires that manner instead.
And another question is, if I use English in my blog as I questioned myself at first.
With their first judgements,it will probably makeothervisitorsthinkImust be
that type ofpeople whohas absorbed that kind oftradition.
- Willtheyadmire, orbe shame on me?
- Will this change create more spacesbetweenmy blogand my ownvisitors?
- Will it be abandoned?
- And later, if I decide to change it back, will it be the same?
- Do Ithinktoo crazy and too much?
Secondly& suddently, these load of new questions alsostrikemy head again.
And regretly, I have noclue for solving all ofthese things.
So let me take a step back and go finding a good answer for this one.
As soon as I get it, youmayseemyEnglish entry again.
Good bye for now ... my bad English mode.
